Favorite Answer
Locke believed that in their natural state, men had freedom and independence, but they could not hinder another person’s freedom or independence. He also advocated checks and balances and thought that in some instances a revolution was needed.
It was included into the Declaration of Independence mainly because the people who wrote the Declaration, notably Thomas Jefferson, were Locke FREAKS! They read his works all the time!
I’m not sure how it changed the colonists’ way of thinking, but it sure rationalized their separation from Great Britain.
I hope that helps somewhat!
