Does anyone have any note taking tips?

I need tips for note taking. I have to use the Cornell style of notes but I was wondering if their was another way to remember things such as dates or definitions and other things. (This is mostly for History and English)

Have you considered tape recording classes? Most professors allow that but I would clear it with them first. Also, you shouldn’t worry so much about spelling unless it’s the name of something specific that will be on a test. As long as you can read and understand your notes you should be ok, learn to abreviate things like government=gov United States= US and so on… Also, if all else fails ask the teacher to slow down and repeat something. That’s what they’re there for to help you learn.

get a tape recorder

if you don’t want to do that, listen 75% of the time, and write 25% of the time

also, get to know your teacher

most teachers raise their voice or do something unusual when they want you to pay attention

you can buy a voice recorder at staples for 45 bucks. Look for a digital one that records up yo 180 hours. They rock! keep plenty of fresh batteries. When your teacher begins, just ask her if you can place it near her. Worked for me and trust me, it becomes your best friend!
