Do you need to underline a Song title when used in a college summary?

Here is what I have in my paper.

How do you get that lonely is a song recorded by Blaine Larson that focuses on the questions surrounding suicide.

So what do I do to the song title for it to be in proper gramatical form? Thanks

Think of it this way, Underlining is for things you are able to throw (books, cd’s, dvd’s, anthology etc.) while quotes are things you can’t throw. Can you throw a song? No. Can you throw a story, no, but you can throw the book it’s in. Hope this helps.

Song titles or musical works, like poems or speeches from plays, are written in quotation marks if they are fairly short, but underlined if they are very long or a collection of shorter works.

For instance:

The “Halleljuah Chorus” (quotation marks) forms part of The Messiah (underlined).

The poem “How do I love thee?” (quotation marks) is from Elizabeth Barrett Browning’s Sonnets from the Portuguese (underlined).

The soliloquy “To be or not to be?” (quotation marks) is from Shakespeare’s play Hamlet (underlined).

I’d put the name of the song in quotes. Underlining is for books.
