Pros: It spreads the cost of something expensive over all the residents of the area. It brings jobs and tourist revenue to the area. It can greatly increase the status of a town, thus bringing in more tourist dollars and new employers. It makes the town seem more “legitimate.”
Cons: It makes some people pay for the “luxury” of a stadium when they never plan to use it. The team may leave town or go out of business after just a few seasons. The team is an independent business and may not conduct itself in a way consistent with the wishes of the town.
