discrete and continuous graphs???

can someone please explain to me on how to figure out if a graph is discreate or continuous??? like for ex there is a horizontal line on a graph what would it be? and also if the ccordinates are (-3,1) (-3,3) (5,2)?

can you please help?? i will chose the best anwer to whoever explains it to me the best!!!

~thank you~

continuous means that it will go on forever, lines and most curves satisfy that condition. Discreet would be the graph of a inequality for example. It may have a starting or ending point although in may go forever in ONE direction.

Discrete data can only take a fixed set of values – e.g. shoe size, number rolled on a die, etc. Continuous data can take infinitely many values – e.g. height, length of time, temperature, etc. With a graph, in order for the graph to be continuous, you require both the x-axis and y-axis to have continuous data. So for this example, it depends how you plot it. The y-axis (temperature) is certainly continuous, but you wording for the x-axis (time) is ambiguous. If you are only dealing in whole numbers of minutes (e.g. the temp was measured once per minute) then your graph is discrete. If you are dealing with continuous time, then your graph is continuous.

Discrete means a bunch of points, with space in between (even if the space is very tiny).

Continuous means, well, exactly that, there’s no space in between, the line (or curve) continues – without being interrupted by space.
