Try thinking of your high school classes as your job. Organize both the classes and the homework. Start your homework the second you get in after school (no going for a soda with friends after, but you may do ‘extracurricular activities’ first). Starting with the first period class, go through your notes, copy them into ‘complete sentences’ then go over the ‘class work’ and then do the homework. Once that is done, do the second period, and on until you are done. Although this sounds ‘extremely complicated, by going ‘class by class’ in the same order every day, you’ll actually be ‘reducing the time it takes’ to get through it. And once you have done that, you’ll feel ‘freer’ and be far less stressed all the time. THAT will allow you to have the ‘positive outlook’ you want. And you are really an excellent student, or you wouldn’t be in all ‘honors’ classes … so this is just a ‘hiccup’ as you adjust to the new school year.

Hey keep your head up!!! I am in the same situation, I am currently enrolled in college at the Junior level taking class full time while working a full time job! It is extremely tough but my best advice to you is just remember that it will payoff eventually. Find out ways to lower your stress levels like go workout or something like that. All that stuff helps make sure you make time to spend your family and friends these are all great stress relievers. It is apparent that you are a smart kid since you were excepted into these types of classes at your age. So like I said stick with it, it will all pay off when you graduate with honors from highschool and not have to pay for college while your friends are scrounging for student loans and mommy and daddy’s money.

im with you. im a freshman and am taking all advanced classes. i just think about how well ill do in the future. i also love going to football games with my friends. you really need to just relax and set up a planned schelual so you dont feel stressed out with your homework then take a little time off for yourself. it might be hard but you have to. im in stuco, on a board with the library, an academic team, volunteer at the recycle center, and in a leadership class where i have to do ALOT of stuff. just take it in stride and get some alone time. maybe you can read for fun or kick back and watch a movie just RELAX. it your struggling get some help from a teacher or a study group. get a supportive group of friends and just be a teenage once in a while

good luck

You have begun the journey to stay positive by trying to improve your homework and discouragement.

Many students have faced your problem. The work is much easier in Middle and and Junior high schools. Students who are bright often get by on their intelligence and therefore do not learn proper study and even test taking techniques and then feel either overwhelmed or settle into mediocrity.

Do not be afraid to ask your teachers when you do not understand something. They are there to help you. There are also many free homework help sites on the internet. Two excellent ones are pathwhelp.org and jiskha.org.

I have placed below some sites that are designed to hep you with various study skills. Save them and go over them.

No matter what stay in school. When I was your age studying was tough but I kept a case of Mountain Dew in the house. The payoff for being smart is that you’ll make more money than your classmates in the long run and have nicer and newer cars. In college I fell in love and dropped out. I have a good union job now but, STAY IN SCHOOL!!

think about the bright future ahead of u when u finish studies…. dont think too hard about studies and grades …just set a time to relax and chill out a few times …u will feel refreshed….this is just the begining you still have to walk miles so might as well enjoy the journey..

here are some extra tips

1-dance like crazy…like no one is watching you..like you dont care…

2- blast the stereo with your favourite songs and sing along or move with the beat.

3-go with friends to play snooker/billard or bowling.

4-join a once a week class to learn something fun ..like tap dance , salsa or anything you like..different from mental learning.

5- call friends over to have a study session at home…

you have to chill out to recharge your body mind and soul……

Don’t let it take you down, I’ve seen three of my classmates crash and burn this year alone, luckily they dropped a subject or two and are managing, just find your ways to cope, be it talking to your teachers and asking them how necessary the work load is, or just start thinking up excuses for late homework.

Don’t overwork yourself, then you won’t be able to do anything, think about doing less instead.

Don’t look at it like you have too much work, just take one thing at a time. Then, you can move to the next piece of work and it will seem faster and easier for you.
