Illegal immigration has caused problems for our family personally in the construction industry. When one man works and earns a wage to support one family living as a single family unit (home, apartment, whatever) he pays such things as rent or mortgage, utilities, and other normal household expenses and requires a certain income to live this type of life with his family in America. But when a group of illegal immigrants in groups of 8-20 men live in a 1-2 bedroom apartment (rented by one legal immigrant who takes a portion of each man’s weekly pay as his fee for his services such as getting them across the border, renting the apartment, driving them all to Walmart each week in groups of 4-6 and translating for them) and use the closets, dining area and other floor space for sleeping and send the bulk of their money back to their family in another country via money wire transfer, then of course they can work for lower rages than a legal family man can. We left Houston and now they are taking over the jobs where we live now. Our family owned interior trim construction company of nearly 10 years went out of business due directly to foreign labor that moved into our city within less than a 2 year span. I have No problem with immigration. Bring your family, start a new life. Live the American dream, such as it is. My ancestors did. But illegal immigration is one of the factors that puts my family in the 47 million Americans who can’t afford health insurance and live below the median income level. Potential Problem 2: The contractors and builders in our town have been lucky so far that no serious accident has occured on a job site where the workers are not even supposed to be there and are not covered by workers’ compensation or general liability insurace.

Health needs of illegal immigrants. If taken to hospital there is a duty of care and they have to be treated. They may take a bed needed for a legal resident.

Education of the children …. Illegal immigrants children cant register for school.. so where do they go??

Illegal immigrants and low wages… is it fair that they are payed below the minimum wage.. is it far that becasue they will work for less money legal residents loose out. Or does it help keep food prices down as most illegal immigants work on farms.

Lets see what else… they dont have insurance and some do drive especially here in Florida .. its a major problem leading to higher insurance rates.

How about the policy that makes the children born to illegal immigrants LEGAL citizens if they’re born in the US, even while the parents remain illegal. This has always struck me as ridiculous and I wish it would be changed.
