Chem HELLLP?

I need help with finding the metal in metal hydrogen carbonate.

So, we reacted metal hydrogen carbonate with HCl to find what the metal is.

Data:

Mass of metal hydrogen carbonate = 2.6 g

Mass of 40 mL HCl + 100 mL cylinder = 80.5 g

After the reaction:

Mass of acid solution = 39.6g

Mass of reactants = 42 g

Mass of products = 40.8 g

Mass of Co2 = 1.4 g = 0.031 mol CO2

Now, we need to do the following:

a) write a balanced equation: analyzing the various ways we can combine the ions to form compounds in writing the chemical equation.

b)number of moles of metal hydrogen carbonate

c)molecular weight of the metal hydrogen carbonate

d)atomic mass of the metal

Thank You Very Very Much…..

I can do the equation part for you… I think.

Ok, so we have (word equation)

Hydrogen chloride + hydrogen carbonate —>

Hydrogen + carbon dioxide + carbon chloride

BECAUSE: acid + carbonate —-> salt + carbon dioxide + hydrogen gas

So we have:

2HCl + 4HCO(3) ——> 3H(2) + 2CO(2) + 2CCl

I’m a bit rusty so I forget the atomic number of carbon and the like. I may get back to this later. I hope this helps/what you were looking for!
