Can you name some famous leaders, other than Martin Luther King Jr. and Rosa Parks?

I have this homework assignment, I have to write a essay about a famous leader, but every website I go to it has Martin Luther King, Rosa Parks, Nelson Mandela etc.. I have been doing papers on them since Elementary school, and it has gotten a little bit boring writing about the same people over and over again, plus I’m not getting any new knowledge. Who are some famous leaders? Thanks! Have a good day

That really depends on what kind of leaders you are interested. It seems that you are mentioning leaders from the Civil Rights era…so here are some more.

Malcolm X

Frederick Douglas [not from that era, but was one of the first activists]

Medgar Evers

Harry T. Moore

etc. you can find more at the first website in my sources.

The site. www.peoplespot.com should really help you out if your just looking for leaders in general. The second link will take you directly to the part of the site for leaders.

If you can pick any person in history, you should just pick someone that your text book mentions a lot or someone that your teacher talks about. If your looking for something unique, don’t be afraid to look for people on the internet.

Hitler was a leader… a horrible person but that would make a good paper. Simon Bolivar was a good leader in Latin America. John Lennon was a leader on the peace movement on the 60’s. Che Guevara, Karl Marx, the Cesar’s on Rome. Cleopatra or Nefertiti representing for the women.

Martin Luther King Jr. The Nobel Peace Prize 1964 In 1957 he was elected president of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, an organization formed to provide new leadership for the now burgeoning civil rights movement. The ideals for this organization he took from Christianity; its operational techniques from Gandhi. In the eleven-year period between 1957 and 1968, King traveled over six million miles and spoke over twenty-five hundred times, appearing wherever there was injustice, protest, and action; and meanwhile he wrote five books as well as numerous articles. In these years, he led a massive protest in Birmingham, Alabama, that caught the attention of the entire world, providing what he called a coalition of conscience. and inspiring his “Letter from a Birmingham Jail”, a manifesto of the ***** revolution; he planned the drives in Alabama for the registration of Negroes as voters; he directed the peaceful march on Washington, D.C., of 250,000 people to whom he delivered his address, “l Have a Dream”, he conferred with President John F. Kennedy and campaigned for President Lyndon B. Johnson; he was arrested upwards of twenty times and assaulted at least four times; he was awarded five honorary degrees; was named Man of the Year by Time magazine in 1963; and became not only the symbolic leader of American blacks but also a world figure. At the age of thirty-five, Martin Luther King, Jr., was the youngest man to have received the Nobel Peace Prize. When notified of his selection, he announced that he would turn over the prize money of $54,123 to the furtherance of the civil rights movement.

Why not write about someone such as His Holiness the Dalai Lama or Mother Theresa? They could certainly be considered leaders, and if you do searches for them you will find plenty of information.

There are so many to choose from. Have you thought about any of our former presidents. Another thought would be to research who was the first woman to run a country.
