What you need to do is group like terms. So, you normally put the variables on the left and the ‘pure’ numbers on the right sides of the equation.

So, you get:

4-3x+7x=6-7x+7x to get 4+4x=6

Now we’ll move the 4 to the other side to get

4+4x-4=6-4 to get 4x=2

now you just simplify, to get x by itself…so you do the opposite of multiply (divide) to get

x=2/4 which simplifies down to 1/2

7x – 3x = 6 – 4

Therefore x = 1/2
