can someone show me where the parentheses go on this problem, and show me how you did it please?

2 to the 3rd power + 6 – 5 x 4 = 12

I can’t figure out where to put those parentheses to come up with 12, i have tried all different ways and i still can’t get it.

2^3+(6-5) x 4=12

8+(1)x4

8+4=12

Actually, the correct answer, to my knowledge is -6=12

Simplified to -2
