2. -15ab + 9b^2 – 12ab – 20b^2

= -27ab -11b^2

3. 8 – 4x +15 – 36x

= 23 -40x

4. 5a – 15b – 2b – 8a

= -3a -17b

5. 2a – { 6b – 4 [ a – b – 3a]}

= 2a – { 6b – 4a – 4b – 12a}

= 2a – { 2b- 16a}

= 2a + 2b + 16a

= 18a + 2b

I did these of the top of me head, so don’t expect them all to be right, like 5, but I’m pretty sure most of them are correct.

The following equations are some of the most important:

(a – b)^2 = (a – b)(a – b) = a^2 – 2ab + b^2

(a + b)^2 = (a + b)(a + b) = a^2 + 2ab + b^2

(a + b)(a – b) = a^2 – b^2
