66 pi for the same reasons as the other person, but the other person forgot to multiply the circumference by the height to get 48 pi plus 18 pi instead of 6 pi plus 18 pi.

In order to find the total surface area of a cylinder, you can break a cylinder into a rectangle (where the label on a soup can would be) and two circles (the top and the bottom).
Circles:
Finding the area is simple. Pi * radius squared
The radius is 3. When you square it, you get 9.
Each circle’s area is 9pi. When you have two circles – one for each base, you get 18pi.
Rectangle:
The height is given. It is 8.
The length is the circumference of the base. Like a soup can’s label, which wraps around the can, the circumference is the same as the length. Circumference is 2*radius*pi.
2*3*pi = 6pi
Now you need to add the numbers of the circles and the rectangle. 6pi + 18pi = 24pi
