Can someone explain my math hw please?

Assume that the second polygon is similarto the first…Do these steps

set up equations to find the lengths of any sides labeled by variables

Find the length that solves each equation.

Explain how you foung the solutions to the equations…

This is how the first one looks like

the two sides of the first triangle are 5 and 8….the corresponding triangle is 15 and X….

am i suppose to cross multiply or sumthing, cuz im stuck

alrighty…i think its lilke this:

5 over 15 and 8 over x

then cross multiply to get:

5x = 15 (8)

Then:

5x = 120 ( i got 120 from 15 times 8)

then you need to get x on its own:

5x = 120

—- —-

5 5

the 5 over 5 cancels out leaving x on its own and then you have to take 120 divided by 5 to get 24….your final answer is

x = 24
