Subjects and Predicates. Draw a line between the subject and the predicate in each sentence below. Underline the simple subject once and the simple predicate twice.

1. The honey -making industry makes about $115 million each year.

2. An average bee can fly fifteen miles in an hour.

3. A worker honeybee makes about one-tenth of a pound of honey in its lifetime.

4. Its lifetime is just one growing season.

5. Two hundred bees make one pound of honey in one season.

6. A waxy material is released by bees.

7. This material is used in candles and polishes.

8. Bees cannot defend themselves against other insects.

9. At least one kind of fly can kill them.

10. Robber flies kill bees with their piercing beaks.
