Sure.
1/4x + 5 = 2x – 9
1/4x = 2x – 14
x = 8x – 56
56 = 7x
x = 8

Ok this is pretty simple:
1. Put both Xs on the same side and the numbers on the other: 1/4x-2x=-9-5
2. Solve both sides: -7/4x=-14
3. Divide both sides by -7/4: x=8

1/4x+5=2x-9
take the whole problem and multiply it by 4 to get rid of the fraction
4(1/4x+5=2x-9)
so you get
x+5=2x-9
then add the 9 to the left side
x+14=2x
then subtract the x from the 2x
14=x
thats the answer
please rate best.

You need to get the variables on one side, and the numbers on the other. Add/subtract from each side as necessary. Then continue to multiply/divide until you have an x = ( or =x) equation.
