Biology hw question?

In a controlled experiment, why is there only one experimental variable and what would happen if there were more than one variable?

I said, :”There is one experimental variable becuase the controlled group can only express one true or false statement.” would that work??

Not really. You’re close though. You can only have one variable so that you can determine what change in what element caused a change. If you have multiple variables and something changes, then you don’t know which one caused the change. If you only change one element at a time, then you can be positive of which element caused what change.

If you change your shoes and your skirt at the same time and somebody says they like your outfit, then how do you know if it was the shoes or the skirt or the combination of both that the person liked? If you change them one at a time you would be able to know the answer in a short series of three tests.
