Attention english teachers and english majors !!starting each paragraph with a quote?

I have my first big english essay coming up in my first college level english class. Mine is about whether or not romantic love is overrated. I personally dont think it is. I want to open each paragraph of my essay with a quote about love that pertains to basis of that paragraph. As long as I sight each author ..will that be alright? I think it will help guide me but I am not sure if that will make my essay come across too informal. anyone out there have guidance? Please take note that these quotes are not from the same piece and only subject matter relates them.

I think it might be too much to open each paragraph with a quote. My suggestion would be to stick with just one or two powerful quotes that support your arguments.

Instead of opening each paragraph with a quote, work the quote into your writing. Here’s an example:

According to author Jane Smith, pure love for another human could never be considered overrated.

I made the sentence up, and I have no idea who Jane Smith is, but you get the idea. Working quotes and ideas of others into a paper (make sure you say who said what) makes it flow more smoothly, and you don’t have to worry about a reference page.

If you begin each paragraph with a quote, you’ll have to refer to it every time. This may come off as if you don’t have any ideas of your own! I wouldn’t do it. Also, the word to quote another person, is “cite,” not “sight.”
