Yes, Middle Ages is the translation of the latin medium aevum. Medieval is a rough contraction of the same phrase. The Dark Ages refer to the earlier part of the middle ages, not the whole thing. Canterbury Tales was written in the Late Middle Ages, right before the invention of the Printing Press.

Antichristian is an argumentative term and not a good way to start a debate … but here are a few things to consider. Since before the “Galileo Affair” up to today arguments have been made that science and religion are in conflict. Recently: • Pope Benedict XVI’s 2009 statements claiming that the use of condoms to combat the AIDS epidemic in Africa was ineffective and counterproductive. • Long held religious claims have been challenged by scientific studies such as STEP which examined the efficacy of prayer. • A number of scientists including Jerry Coyne have made an argument for a philosophical incompatibility between religion and science. • An argument for the conflict between religion and science that combines the historical and philosophical approaches has been presented by Neil Degrasse Tyson. But the religious debate is more aptly conducted between members of the religious community. This is due to the fact that science isn’t philosophy driven but instead depends more upon methodology and test evidence.

Mid evil ages are the teenage years, midway between being a naughty child and a wicked adult. They are also the years you know everything. By the time you reach adultery you realize how little you really know.
