APUS class sophmore year…time managed study tips?

we already have summer work and the chapters don’t even have lessons! its just like 30 pages of history. ahhh. I’m taking U.S.AP and I spend a lot of time on it now on notes and the amsco book key words and I just know that during the school year there is no way I’ll have time to do all this stuff I am now. We are using the text from Robert Divine: America Past and Present. 4 each chater so far I’ve been

1.Taking notes on the whole thing

2. reading the section on in the Amsco book

3. writing and defining all of the vocabulary at the end of the amsco chapters

4.Reading the Barron’s EZ-101 study keys

it takes me roughly 12 hours to do all of this per chapter…ughh and i know we’ll be doing about a chapter a week next year and i will not be able to spend this much time studying on top of clubs and sports. does ne1 have tips for cutting down on my time? especially if u did well on ur AP exam =) Thanks in advance

It will be somewhat easier once classes begin, because you won’t be doing it all on your own. You won’t have to rely just on reading, you’ll have your notes from the lectures. That may very well cut down on the chapter note reading and possibly the Barron’s as well.

I’ve found that study groups are extremely helpful in dividing up some of the work … as long as you hold meaningful discussions and not just make it a “party time.” It can be helpful if you have a parent or other adult who is willing to moderate for you (that’s what I do for the kids) to keep you on track, especially in the beginning. They don’t have to totally know the topic (although it helps) but have to be aware of good group study skills.

Brain transplant? I’m always drinking when I study: best thing, take a hour and read over all your notes for all your classes everyday. Not just notes taken that day, all of them from the beginning until your next test. By the time you take a test, you should remember the notes from the past and if anything just have to concentrate studying mainly the notes taken a few days before the test. Also, read over the chapter in the book. As far as math, either do practice math out of the book or talk to your professor for help in math.
