x-intercept means where did the line cross the x-axis. Now, the x-axis conveniently corresponds to the value for y of zero (ie is the line y=0). So, just put in the value of y=0 and you’ll get your x-intercept.

x+0=9; x=9

easy when you know how!!

X-intercept means the point where the line crosses the x axis, which means that y=0 at that point.

The equation is x+y=9; subtituting the value of y, we get

x+y=9

x+0=9

x=9

X-intercept will be where Y= 0

so x+y=9

x=9-y

x=9-0

x=9
