About Egypt…?

Why is Egypt not considered to be one of the Seven Wonders of the World and considered as one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World?

Thanks in advance… God speed…

I believe he’s referring to the new ‘seven wonders’ list, not the ‘modern wonders.’ The Egyptian government and the Supreme Council of Antiquities complained about having to compete to retain a title they’ve held for 2000 years, so as a result, the new Seven Wonders comittee removed the pyramids from the list and placed them as an ‘honorary’ candidate. Thus they are the unofficial eightth wonder.

It’s an absurd argument that has led most of the academic world to reject this new list, as it was only intended as a publicity stunt and the winners were those voted upon by a popular majority. It has no cultural or historic value whatsoever (clearly indicated by the fact that the Christ Redeemer statue was one of the winners).

There are two sets of Seven Wonders: the ancient and the modern. The pyramids of Egypt are part of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World but no of the modern one because right now, they are in ruins.

The Seven Wonders of the Modern World are the following:

1) Channel Tunnel

2) CN Tower

3) Empire State Building

4) Golden Gate Bridge

5) Itaipu Dam

6) Netherlands North Sea Protection Works

7) Panama Canal

The Great Pyramid at Gisa is one of the wonders of the ancient world, which is in Egypt. Countries are not considered wonders but rather the constructions or natural beauties in them. Depending on the modern list you look at, The Great Pyramid is still on it.
