About articles- Is this sentence correct?

There’s one open, on a 7:30, to New York, on a 12th.

This is a sentence I found a bit strange. It’s about booking a flight New York. The native speaker said so but I’m not sure about articles.

1. Shouldn’t ‘a’ before 12th be ‘the’?

2. How about ‘a’ before ‘7:30’? Does it sound okay?

Please answer me with the correct sentence. I’ll desperately wait for your replies!

She was speaking a kind of booking-clerk’s shorthand.

Correctly it should be;

“There’s one open on a 7.30 (flight) to New York on the 12th.”

There’s lots of commas here too which i don’t think you need.

I agree ‘the’ sounds better and the ‘a’ is incorrect.

‘There’s one open at 7:30 to New York on the 12th’ is what I would suggest.

Is 12th referring to a date? Because that would be incorrect, but ‘on a 7:30’ is pretty common.

Native speakers take lots of liberties with their langauge (after all it is theirs!). You are right. That sentence could be better. But if you got the meaning, the purpose is served, isn’t so?
