-5/6q – (q – 1) = 1/4 (-q + 80)

~take out parentheses~

-5/6q – q + 1 = 1/4 (-q + 80)

~distribute the 1/4~

-5/6q – q + 1 = 1/4*-q + 1/4(80)

-5/6q – q + 1 = -1/4q + 20

[-11/6]q + 1 = -1/4q + 20

[-11/6]q + 1 – 1 = -1/4q + 20 – 1

[-11/6]q = -1/4q + 19

[-11/6]q + 1/4q = -1/4q + 19 + 1/4q

~find common denominator which is 12~

[-11*2/12]q + [3*1/12]q = 19

-22/12q + 3/12q = 19

-19/12q = 19

~multiply by the reciprocal, same as dividing by -19/12~

[-19/12q]*[12/-19] = 19*[12/-19]

q = -12
