I personally recommend using the Quadratic Equation to solve this, but I’ll do it another way.

First, you can factor out the 2.

2(x^2 – 2x) + 1 = 0

Next, divide both sides by 2.

x^2 – 2x + 1 = 0

Finally, factor this.

(x – 1)^2 = 0

The correct answer is x = 1.

2x^2 – 4x + 1 =

4x-4x+1=

=1

2 times x squared is 2 times itself, which is four

cancel out the negative and positive 4x and you get 1

you could do

2x^2 – 4x + 1 = 0

2x^2 – 4x = -1

2x(x – 2) = -1

which gives you the equations:

2x = -1

and

x – 2 = -1

so x is -1/2 and x is also 1

This is how I would solve it:

2x^2-4x+1=0

2x^2+1=4x

x^2+1=2x

x+1=sqrt of 2x

x=(sqrt. of 2x)-1

I hope this helps you. : )

+/- [sqrt(16-4(2)(1))]/2*2

= +/- sqrt(8)/4

= +/- sqrt(2)/2
