If you are a certified teacher employed as such by a school district, your pay would be based on the same salary schedule as a regular classroom teacher. The Iowa school district I work for is large enough (10,000+ students) to employ such a person full-time. Her responsibilities are described as “visiting teacher/home schooling teacher”. Her salary for the 2006-2007 school year was $46,000.

I suspect that small districts who need home schooling teachers rely on their Area Education Agency [AEA] to employ a teacher who would service several small districts as an itinerant within that AEA. If you’ll tell me where you live, I can give you the name & location of the nearest AEA.

I cannot help but scratch my head at your specific question – and I am sure many others have as well.

Most people here consider a homeschool teacher as a parent who teaches their child in the home environment. We don’t usually need (and certainly most don’t want) some sort of supervisior. Nor would we pay anyone to do such. A babysitter so that we can run to the store uninterupted and without kids in tow – maybe… (does anyone know of a babysitter for 10 minute periods?).

If you are talking about someone who supervises actual teachers from public school who do homebound services – well that would be the school board.

You may want to reword your question, or add more information. If you are looking for information on public education salarys – your local school board website may have that information listed. If they give a range – pick the average or go for the lower figure if you are just starting out.

Hope that helps.
