If you really want to speed things up, talk to your school. You may be able to do some correspondence courses on the side and summer courses next year and be done a semester early. Spend time on that than on trying to convince your parents to do something they likely won’t agree on. Or someone mentioned AP classes. This will get you advanced placement into college and knock off some of your college requirements. There are other ways to speed things up than by doing online school.
I convinced my Mom by finding a home-school assistance plan and went out of my way to ask for much more challenging assignments. Thanks to my Mom agreeing, I graduated when I was 16 and had a fun and interesting education. I got to study Anthropology, Psychology, Comparitive Religion, World History and wrote my first books during that time. Just do some research on what the “system” fails in as far as kids with more active minds and show her what you could possibly do on your own. That should convince her.
I do have to say, though, that my Mom agreed because I had been politically active since childhood. When I was in elementary school my step-dad helped me raise awareness of child abuse, in middle school I was working on Human Rights campaigns and in high school I helped get two environmental bills passed in FL so when I told her that I wanted to get out of the flow of nonsense in high school, and go ahead and start college for my degree in social work, she was supportive because I had already spent a lifetime of raising awareness.
Parents can be convinced easier if you wish to start college earlier to work on your life passion, whether that’s social ills in my case or even computer science or business or something. Whatever it is that you are passionate about, they will likely support you in it.
Personally, I had an amazing time in high school and although it definitely had its negatives, I wouldn’t have left early.
My good friend on the other hand, definitely regrets it. He did the online thing and hated it… he ended up losing touch with all of his friends since he didn’t see them at school but they were all still in school. You’ll miss out on a lot of memories and everything as well.
Let yourself grow, don’t be in such a rush to grow up.
Just remember-
Life is like a roll of toilet paper- the closer it gets to the end, the faster it goes.
Haha. Good luck with your decision !! =)
