I feel this is one impossible analogy?

Lets say all college students in the school are required to live in the city. I see that george doesnt go to the school, thus i say he doesnt live in the city. a non sequitor or a false analogy?

I don’t think it’s either a non sequitor (which I define as a completely random jump to a new topic in a stream of thought or dialogue) or a false analogy (which I define more as a case in which the elements represent other ideas or concepts, perhaps erroneously).

This is a simple logic problem called a syllogism. You state a rule, provide a case and see if the rule allows you to draw a conclusion about the case. In this example, it is an incorrect conclusion to say George doesn’t live in the city.

He can still live in the city even if he doesn’t go to school. it does not say ONLY college students live in the city

you don’t state that the ppl inhabiting the city are just those college students, so the possibility of other non-college-student people living in the city is still there. george could be one of those people.
