How to answer an essay questions properly?
I am just curious about any guidelines there are to follow? It is in a government class so the essay is more about explaining something to show the information has been understood. I appreciate any bit of help. Thanks so much! 🙂

Generally for any history or gov class, they like 5 para essays. In my classes, we were required to find examples in history and such. I seperated each para by topics such as federalism, civil liberties, and separation of powers. Then we had to give 2-3 examples of each in the para. So I would have 2-3 examples of federalism and explain each one. Same for the rest of the paragraphs. Conclusion is just to sum it all up.

first you should ALWAYS restate the question. And then go into your points about the topic and BE SPECIFIC ON ANSWERING THE QUESTION. Depending on if it is an long or short essay will determine how many points you should have. And then you should have a proper closing for it.

Remember, when ending it, you shouldn’t use words such as “I think”, “I suggest” or anything that includes an “I”. this gives your essay a dumblike appearence.
instead, do something like this “it would be intereseting if…” or “However, there are so many things which could be done to avoid this problem in the future” or something like this. use your imagination.

Be sure to actually “answer the question.”
Think before you write. It is better to have a concise answer than a rambling answer. Remember — it’s not an internet blog that you can hit “edit”, go back, and change.
