I can’t tell you the number of times I have been told to wear blue to an interview. The color is classic but it is also calming. I have heard that it makes the interviewer feel comfortable with you. Also, be careful about wearing to much makeup or perfume.

I chose to wear a shade of blue to my interview for a teaching position a little over a year ago. I was hired on the spot. I can’t say that all had to do with my outfit which was black pants, shoes, and a blue sweater set. You must also remember to smile and appear confident but not overly confident. Give your best answers but don’t talk to much.

One very important piece of advice….You might be asked What is one of the craziest things you have ever done? (or something like that) Make sure you answer the question but the answer shouldn’t be about anything that would be looked down upon (alcohol, school related (if bad)). You do not want them to get the wrong impression of you. You might wonder why they would ask this but they do and I have heard of some horror stories of answers given. Its a job interview not an interview for a magazine.

The color is immaterial. Wear whatever color is suitable for your own individual coloring. What’s more important is the appropriateness of the outfit. Something simple and tailored, that fits well, and is not too tight or too loose. Even elementary students can be distracted by too much jewelry, too much trendiness, and too much skin. If you’re smart enough to be a teacher, you’re probably savvy about what’s appropriate to wear to an interview — no matter what kind of job you’re applying for. If you want specifics, I would wear either a tailored pant suit or skirted suit in a neutral color, with a bright or pastel shell or blouse underneath the jacket. Comfortable dress pumps with a 2″ heel (No spikes, stilettoes, or sandals), a minimum of jewelry, neat hairstyle, and above all — impeccably groomed. Good luck. Hope you get the job!

I just got back from being part of an interview panel for a fourth grade position.

There were six candidates, and four of the six (three women, one man) wore a blue (pastel blue, navy blue or darker blue) long sleeved shirt with collar. The women wore a classy gold necklace with it. Every one of them wore long khaki or darker colored pants and flat shoes. One woman wore a long sleeved white shirt with a blue skirt and small heels. One woman wore a white long sleeved sweater and black pants and flat shoes.

I think the idea is to wear something classic and impeccable, and not too flashy. I’m not sure about red; some people react badly to it.

More important than color is eye contact and poise. Don’t talk too much, and answer with confidence. At the end thank the panel for the opportunity to interview, and if possible, shake their hand.

I agree with what’s here; you can’t go wrong with a professional-looking outfit like a pants suit or skirt. Keep everything simple – your makeup, your jewelry, your hairstyle. You don’t want your interviewer to be distracted by an elaborate hairdo. The most important thing to wear is a smile. Be yourself, show enthusiasm, and don’t be afraid to pause before answering a question.

I think the best outfit would depend on the grade. You want to wear something casual, but classy. You want them to think your fun, and that children will easily look up to you. I’d suggest a Pant suit, or possibly a skirt and jacket with simple shoes.

Usually dark like navy or black. Since it is summer you may want to wear a white or light colored long sleeve shirt with a dark skirt/dress pants. You should dress conservatively–no low cuts or short skirts. Wear closed toe shoes, not sandals. You want their attention to be on you, not on your outfit.

Red is always A+ for an interview. Do ya know the school colors???? lol Dont overdo it. Just be casual but presentable.

Wear a pants suit with a bright top, red or yellow. Smile a lot and be enthusiastic. DON’T wear high heels!
