what happens when you fail a class that financial aid paid for?

Can you apply for more aid? Will they want all of the money that they gave back?

most financial aid programs require you to get a C or better grade. if you fail, you need to repay the loan back starting in 6 months. thats only the money for that class that you failed. you can still apply for more aid, but you may not get it if you keep failing classes.

Well, I think that might dpend on your school, but I know that the college I’m attending makes you pay them back the cost of the failed class. Some certain classes might have exceptions, though, such as you can fail a math course twice before you have to reimburse the school, etc. For specific classes, I would suggest getting in touch with your professor/teacher. As far I know, Financial Aid won’t give you more help, but you can apply for student loans (if you haven’t already).

Generally you have to pass a percentage of the classes for which you are enrolled during any given semester. If you fail to do this, the Financial Aid Office (FAO) usually requires a refund of monies given to you.

However, this is totally dependent on the type of financial aid you received. The above applies to “free” money like grants and scholarships if they have that stipulation. If you have loans, you fall under different guidelines.

So, ask the FAO what your status is before you enroll for more classes.

You will have to pay it back before they will let you take any more classes. I dropped a class that was paid for by financial aid and now I have to pay for that class before I can sign up for any more classes.
