It is possible, but there is very little money out there who are not a single parent. The television commercials make it out easier than it seems in reality. I have a friend with a 40 year old ex who could only get food stamps for six months. However, you might qualify for the campus work study program on campus. I will include some resources that might help you find tuition money for college. Good luck!

To answer your question directly no – you do not need a job to receive a grant. In fact, your chances of receiving a grant are higher if you have no income. Go to www.fafsa.ed.gov and fill out a FAFSA form and have it sent to your school. They will send you a letter or inform you via email how much aid you are eligible to receive in government grants and students loans. Both grants and loans are need-based, meaning that you don’t need to have a job or a good credit score to receive them. They are dependent on how much you (and your family) are expected to contribute to funding your education based on your financial situation. Good luck!
