Need money for college and soon!?

I’m going to college which starts in August. I found out how much I will be getting through financial aid and my student loan, unfortunately, they won’t cover everything, I still have to pay like $5,000. My mom usually helps me but she just told me that she can’t help me at all. She has recently fallen ill these past two months or so and have been working shorter hours, I work 30 hours a week and have been paying rent and other bills. My dream is to go to school and graduate (the first out of my huge family to do so) and I’m $5,000 short. I have maybe $500 saved for books but thats it. Asking family is out of the question. My counselor said that I’ll have to do some research on my own since I already will be given financial aid and a loan. I’m stuck. Does anyone have any idea where I can get the money for college, like additional loans or websites that have information.

1) You can definitely ask your father, I mean theres no downside to the situation. If you ask him and he gives you the money, your good, if he doesn’t you haven’t lost anything. You can just call him and tell him whats going on in your life, then tell him about your money problems and your aspiration to go to college.

2) You can always take out more loans. Most banks, loan companies will let you take out loans, because in the end they make a profit(unless you go bankrupt) so they will gladly lend out loans to you even if you have other loans.

3) You can always work more. I’m currently a college student and I try to make as much money over the summer as I can so I don’t have to during the school year and can focus on my grades. Since you are only working 30 hours a week, you can easily get another part time job. Restaurants are a great place to work(nice restaurants, not McDonalds) because you can talk to customers and let them know that you are going to college and that you need money, and most people that are at these expensive restaurants will tip you more if you are nice and treat them well. I currently work one full time job and one part time job to make money. In addition, if you really need money, you can always work during the school year also and sign up for a deferred payment plan. Good luck in college and don’t lose hold of your dreams.

Ask you Father!! It’s about time he stepped up and helped you out. All he can say is yes or no! Then you have your answer. If he says no then try for a loan. Also if he says no give me his phone number and i’ll call him!! I hate dead beat parents!! I wish you the best of luck.

don’t call your dad. Go to Chase.com and look at their student credit program. You can get up to 40,000 for tuition.
