OK here is what you should do. When you think about your future, think about how you will pay off those loans. You will have to take loans in order to pay for out of state fees.

This is what I did. I went to community college first. Community colleges offer the same courses as Universities for first two years. You will will save so much money on basic college courses. Example, in a community college, you will pay $28 to $30 per unit. In a University, same course will cost you $350. After two years of college course, you can transferred out to a University. It will take you 4 years this way as well. Plus, you will save so much money.

Also, why are you thinking about loans. Apply to financial aid. Never show your parents’ income. When you fill the application for financial aid, say that you are a full time student and you pay your parent rent at home. Show your expenses. More expenses you show, more free money you will get.

This is how I did it. I have Bachelors degree and I have no loans on my head.

You need to call the college in OH to be for sure, but generally, when you are admitted to a college with a high school transcript from out-of-state, you will be charged out of state tuition automatically. You are then responsible to prove otherwise.

Also, when you apply for fin aid using the fafsa.ed.gov you should use your mom (and your step dad’s-if you have one) income. Don’t put your dad’s income on the fafsa.

When you apply to the college in OH use your dad’s mailing address and voila! You now live in OH! Isn’t it grand being underage and having multiple households? Don’t forget to send your mom a postcard on the first day of Rush Week.
