If I took out a loan under both me and my partners names would it effect my credit history?
He has a not so great history and mine is fine.
What would happen if a loan was declined?

It will not affect your cred history individually, but the lesser of the two histories is considered in a joint situation.
If a loan is declined, you don’t get the loan. Your credit rating drops a few points; but it also drops a few points when it is checked, so avoid unnecessary queries.
