No… 23 isn’t too young. This summer I had a guy in my class who was well into his 80s, he was a WWII vet and he and his wife had been married for 60 years lol.

I’m 23 and I’m in college. I may be behind most of the people I graduated high school with, but I am more responsible with classes and schoolwork than I ever was at 18. I get better grades now because I care so much since I couls lose the tuition assistance money if I fail. I know 40 year olds who are going back to school because they can only make so much money in their profession without a degree. Going back to school is a great idea!

You basically just asked if your life is over at 23 years old. Get out there and do what you want in your life. Be who you want to be and let no number or age stop you. Your life is more than the two words “too late”.

Wait until you are 24 so you can apply as an independent unless you have served in the military;orpahan; or have felonies. Make an appointment with an financial advisor who is familiar with the schools policies. Talk to your parents they may help you out. I recommend if possible to pay for college without loans, I worked for an aggressive student loan firm and people would call us only to realize that the people on the other end lived in a diffrent country, furthering the frustrations of weary borrowers

Not at all….IM 22 but will be 23 next month and I start college for the first time next week. I have a nearly 3 year old and while I was a bit apprehensive at first, would you rather be working retail or flipping burgers because you were nervous about what abunch of teenagers thought. Go For It.

Not too late!

or too late for financial aid.

Didn’t you see the story about the 70 or 80 year old woman who graduated from college a few months ago? It was on the Today show, and lots of other places.

Not at all. It is far better to go later on in life and be committed to it than to go right out of high school and not want to be there and just be wasting your time. More and more people are going to school being a little bit older these days whether it be for the first time or returning after leaving earlier in life. I actually started college full time when I was 20. Even though I felt a little weird at first sitting next to people who had just gotten out of high school two months ago, it was a pretty quick adjustment. I also found in most of my classes that there were a couple of people my age or older who were either just starting out or coming back. If you are really unsure if you want to commit to college full time, take a class or 2 just to get a feel for it. Try to pick a class that interests you somewhat that you also may be able to apply toward a degree later on. Slowly build yourself up later on if you want to full time status.

I’m going back for my second time next month… I keep pushing it off because there are kids that will be taking the same classes that were in elementary school when I was graduating…… I promise… you won’t be the oldest by far.. think of it this way….. You doing to better yourself, your life style and the way you make money. I’m not sure how far no college education has gotten you.. but personally I’m done working in factories and leaning on the bottom wrung of the ladder. — at least your older now and have some experience in what you don’t want to do.

Best of luck!!

Absolutely not! Many people go to college in their 20’s, 30’s 40’s. It is NEVER too late. If you go to college now you will find that many students are your age or older. You will also have more maturity than the 18 yr. olds…and hopefully, take college more seriously. Go! Enjy it! And work toward the goals you have set for yourself! See website below to see that 58% of college students are over age 22!
