I’m in a bad situation. I need your help.?

I went to CDI a private College to check out a program I was interested. After writing a test, the admission representative asked me if I wanted to attend the classes and I said yes. Then she made an appointment for me to see the financial planner. She asked me to bring $100 to register plus my social security/ social insurance number. I told her that I would bring the $100 after I meet with the financial planner. That day when I went to my appointment with financial planner, I had to go to the admission representative’s office first. Before meeting with financial planner she asked me to sign a contract which I refused and she kind of became mean to me and called me a nervous person and said to me I can’t help you as I see you are hesitating. I said I need to speak to financial planner and to my parents before I sing anything. The tuition is too much and I’m not sure what to do. It seems like she is pushing me and making decisions for me. Now I have an appointment again to register on Monday, but b4 I register I want to go and sit in that class and see how the instructor is teaching. I heard he is kind of old and got an accent. How can I tell them I want to sit in that class for only 30 min. I really need to find out everything before I take further steps.

Sounds like you are dealing with salesmen, not educators.

I would be very hesitant to pursue this college based on your experiences. However, if you are still interested, let them know that you are not even going to consider this school without observing a class. Period.

The college is pressuring you and you should not fall for it. Wanting to see how a college operates is normal ( You wouldnt buy a car without test driving it). One hard professor should not be your determining factor, the overall college should be. Right now they are pressuring you for money you may not have nor want to pay if you decide not to go there. THere is always a cost to apply but 100 bucks up front and signing a contract before you even get to see the place is strange. Is the college accredited? How many of their incoming freshmen graduate? I am not familiar with the Canadian technical college system, but are all the degrees, and especially the degree you want, transferable to other colleges? DO not sign anything until you are sure this is where you want to attend.

That was very rude of the admission rep. Well take it as a foreshadow of what may come if you happen to pursue your studies there. Don’t you have any other options?
