Does A W grade look bad or hurt my GPA?
I had to withdraw from one of my college courses, leaving me with a W for a grade. Will this hurt my GPA? Does it look bad on my transcript?

No, it does not affect your GPA. If you only do this with one class in your college career, I wouldn’t worry about it.
Many of us have been there.
Just so you know for the future, many colleges let you take a couple of general studies classes pass/fail.
This option is nice because it doesn’t matter if you get a C or an A in that class, and it doesn’t affect your GPA either way.
I took it for Astrology.

It usually will not affect your GPA at all but you should ask your registrar to confirm. If you have a lot of them you might have to explain to your future employeer or college why you withdrew so many times and you are required to complete at least 2/3 of the classes you attempt to take in order to make satisfactory academic progress for financial aid.

The ‘W’ has no point value. It just means that for one reason or another, you withdrew from the class with proper notification; otherwise, it would be an ‘I’ for incomplete and that does have value.
It only looks bad if it is a required class towards your major and you don’t take the class again.

It usually wont hurt your GPA, but it will have some bearing on your financial aid should you apply. A W here and there wont hurt, but if it is a pattern it WILL jeopardize your financial aid in the future.

In general, it will not hurt you. Once you repeat the course, that W will be long gone.

unless you are going to go to grad school nobody will care. if you want to go to grad school i would take the class over again to clean up the w.
